Opening 00:01 September 12, 2017 in the following Geoduck Management Areas (GMAs): SUMMARY: 18A, Boatswains Bank 19C, Sydney and Cordova Channel Variation Order No. 2017-471 and -472 14E01, Deep Bay to Nile Creek 14E02, Nile Creek to Qualicum Bay Variation Order No. 2017-407 Fishery Continues: 14E01, Deep Bay to Nile Creek 14E02, Nile Creek to Qualicum Bay Variation Order No. 2017-407 16D01, Thormanby Island Variation Order No. 2017-378 14E04, French Creek 14E05, Rathtrevor Beach Variation Order No. 2017-367 14E03, Qualicum Beach Variation Order No. 2017-357 Note: See the most recent Fishery Notice Bivalve Shellfish Marine Biotoxin Update, as recommended by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and issued by DFO to ensure the required area is open. Bivalve Shellfish Marine Biotoxin Updates can change at any time please re-confirm the required Pacific Fisheries Management Subarea is open prior to fishing daily. DETAILS: GMA 18A, Boatswains Bank: A portion of Subarea 18-7 bounded by a line from Cherry Point to Cape Keppel, thence to Moses Point, thence to Hatch Point and along the shoreline to Cherry Point. GMA 19C, Sydney and Cordova Channel: Subareas 19-5, 19-6. NOTES: North Coast and West Coast Vancouver Island areas are identified on separate Fishery Notices. See the 2017/18 Geoduck and Horse Clam Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) for a more detailed description of the Fishing Protocol. The On-Grounds Monitor and/or Archipelago Marine Research will direct the fleet through Geoduck beds and GMAs.
