Sanitary/Other Contamination Closures
Subject:
FN0180-SANITARY - Area 12 - CHEMICAL Contamination Emergency Closure for Bivalve Shellfish in a portion of Subarea 12-38

Effective immediately, as a result of reports of a diesel spill in the vicinity
of the Burdwood Group, the Pacific Region Interdepartmental Shellfish Committee
(PRISC) has reason to believe the quality of bivalve shellfish in the area may
be compromised. Although the entire subarea (12-38) is prohibited for harvest
due to an existing biotoxin closure, this action is deemed an appropriate
precaution within a portion of Pacific Fishery Management Area 12 (a portion of
Subarea 12-38) until further information can be obtained and assessed.

Emergency Closure 12.ii - Burdwood Group

Harvesting of bivalve shellfish is prohibited within those waters of Raleigh
and Hornet Passage inside a line drawn from the point on land at Notice Point
at 50°47.57' north latitude and 126°31.90'west longitude, thence northeasterly
to the point on land at Deep Sea Bluff at 50°49.02' north latitude and 126°
30.46' west longitude, thence southeasterly to the point on land at King Point
at 50°47.67' north latitude and 126°26.49' west longitude, thence southwesterly
to the point on land at Evangeline Point at 50°46.44' north latitude and 126°
