FN1366-Licensing Information: 2026 Commercial Transporting Licence Issuance

Issuance of a 2026 Transporting (category D) licence has now commenced.

The Transporting application may be obtained upon request from the Pacific Fishery Licence Unit and will soon also be available online at:
https://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/licence-permis/commercial/forms-formulaires/transport-d-licence-permis-eng.html

After completing the application, vessel owners may submit the application by creating a Request in the National Online Licensing System (NOLS). Please note that all applications for a Transporting (category D) Licence will require an accompanying Letter of Support. More information about these requirements can be found on the application form.

It is important to note, that in order for any vessel to continue to be eligible to obtain a Transporting (category D) licence from year to year, the vessel must be actively transporting and submit proof of that activity as evidenced by Fish Slips, wherein the vessel is noted as the transporting vessel.

Once the Transporting application has been approved, a notification will be sent via email to advise the vessel owner that a new charge has been added to their NOLS account. The licence fee for issuance of the 2026 Transporting licence will be available to pay at that time through the NOLS.

All vessel owners are required to pay the 2026 Transporting Licence fee through the NOLS.

Upon the Department receiving the required licence fee payment, the Transporting licence will be issued and notification will be sent via email to advise the vessel owner that a change has been made to their NOLS account. The licence documents, conditions of licence and receipt will then be available to be printed at that time.

A Reminder: To ensure that your transporting activity is being reported correctly by the Buyer and/or Fisher, please make certain that your Vessel Name and VRN are recorded on all fish slips that are associated with your packing activity. Note: Fish slips are required to include the Transporting vessel information as well as the Catcher vessel information.

Client support is available via e-mail (fishing-peche@dfo-mpo.gc.ca) or toll-free telephone (1-877-535-7307).
