FN0099-G?aw ?áahlii (Masset Inlet) proposed Marine Refuge and X?aana K?aahlii (Skidegate Inlet) proposed Marine Refuge: Commercial fishing closures- Portions of Areas subareas 1-6 and 2-1- Closing February 14, 2025
Effective February 14, 2025, commercial fishing activities are prohibited indefinitely within portions of subareas 1-6 and 2-1 that are within the boundaries of the G?aw ?áahlii (Masset Inlet) proposed Marine Refuge and X?aana K?aahlii (Skidegate Inlet) proposed Marine Refuge. Harvesters are notified that G?aw ?áahlii (Masset Inlet) proposed Marine Refuge and X?aana K?aahlii (Skidegate Inlet) proposed Marine Refuge are closed indefinitely to commercial fishing to protect finfish, including salmon and their habitat, invertebrates and seabirds and their habitats, nesting and foraging grounds. Details are provided here: All geographical co-ordinates are provided in the North American Datum 1983, Canadian Spatial Reference System (NAD83, CSRS). Dawson Island: That portion of subarea 1-6 that lies inside a line commencing at 53° 43.462' N, 132° 21.075' W then south easterly to a point in water at 53°42.965' N, 132° 20.001' W then south westerly to a point in water at 53° 42.844' N, 132° 20.274' W then westerly to a point in water at 53° 42.819' N, 132° 21.257' W then north westerly to a point in water at 53° 43.086' N, 132° 21.732' W then north easterly to the beginning point.
