Fishery Notice

FN1038-RECREATIONAL - Salmon - Region 6 - Skeena and Nass River Watersheds - Use of Natural Bait Not Permitted - Amendment to FN1006

This notice amends FN1006 to correct the natural bait closed times for sections of the Nass River watershed. The full revised fishery notice follows.

Effective immediately until June 15, 2022, the use of Natural Bait is not permitted in the Skeena River watershed excluding the Ecstall River (including tributaries), Exchamsiks River (including tributaries), Exstew River (including tributaries), Gitnadoix River (including tributaries), and the Kasiks River (including tributaries). 

Effective immediately until June 15, 2022, the use of Natural Bait is not permitted in the Nass River watershed excluding the Ishkheenickh River (including tributaries), and Iknouk River.

These management measures are being implemented to address conservation concerns for Skeena and Nass steelhead.

Possession limits are two times the daily limits.

The term "marked" means a hatchery fish that has a healed scar in place of the adipose fin.

Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and coho salmon.  Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment.  Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program toll free at (866) 483-9994 for further information.

Anglers are advised to check for fishing closures and other recreational fishing information.
