FN0775-Pacific Region Fisheries with Dockside Monitoring Programs

DFO sent a letter, dated June 4, 2021, to all Pacific Region Dockside Observer Corporations regarding the reinstatement of dockside vessel hold checks by DFO designated dockside observers. Vessel hold checks are now required as part of the Dockside Monitoring Program. Vessel masters and crews are reminded that all reasonable assistance is required to enable the dockside observers to check the vessel holds. This includes adequate lighting, safe access to the vessel and holds, and the following of the federal and provincial guidelines and recommendations for COVID-19. The dockside observers will be documenting circumstances where they are unable to access holds.
