Fishery Notice

Fisheries and Ocean Canada is soliciting comments on the DRAFT 2019/20 Pacific 
Herring Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP). The deadline for 
submission of comments is January 17, 2020. An electronic copy of the draft 
IFMP is available here:

The draft IFMP sets out the policy framework that guides decision making for 
Pacific Herring. Section 6 outlines the management measures proposed for the 
2019/20 season for Pacific Herring, including catch levels. Appendix 5-10 sets 
out specific information for each of the Pacific Herring fisheries.

The draft IFMP has also been circulated to Indigenous nations and groups 
through the established consultation processes, as well as the Integrated 
Herring Harvest Planning Committee (IHHPC), Herring Industry Advisory Board 
(HIAB), and interested parties. Fisheries and Oceans Canada will continue to 
meet with First Nations and commercial and environmental groups during the 
consultation period to seek further feedback on the plan.
