FN1156-Shellfish Aquaculture Management Advisory Committee Call for Nominations

This is to announce that the Shellfish Aquaculture Management Advisory
Committee (SF AMAC) representative nomination process is now underway for First
Nations (7 seats), aquaculture industry (5 seats), and environmental and
conversation non-governmental organizations (2 seats).

The Shellfish Aquaculture Management Advisory Committee (SF AMAC) is a multi-
stakeholder body that provides advice to the DFO on policy and operational
decisions related to shellfish aquaculture in BC.

DFO recognizes the advisory process as an important forum for engagement and
advice. The Department views it essential that broad interests are brought to
the table and considered as a part of ongoing management and decision-making.

The following selection method will be used to appoint participants to the AMAC
process:
-Participants nominated by their sector/organization
-Nominations forwarded to the Department
-Department appoints nominees

The normal duration of an appointment will be three years.

There are typically two Shellfish Aquaculture Management Advisory Committee
meetings per year in Courtenay. The next meetings are November 13-14, 2019 and
tentatively April 30, 2020. AMAC meetings are open to observers, and only
appointed members, invited guests, and government staff actively participate in
meetings.

It would be appreciated if you would consider this opportunity. We ask that
nominations be provided in writing by January 20, 2020.

To request a nomination form and other information about the SF AMAC such as
the terms of reference, current AMAC members and past meeting notes, please
