Fishery Notice

Further to FN1015, a 10 vessel Area D Demonstration fishery was proposed to 
occur on October 18 to 20 and October 26 to 28 in portions of Area 14. Due to 
combined low Chum returns in the Puntledge, Big Qualicum and Little Qualicum 
Rivers, the October 18 to 20 Chum fishery has been cancelled to allow for more 
Chum escapement into the systems. DFO will continue to monitor the Chum returns 
in these rivers and make an announcement on October 23 if the next 
demonstration fishery will occur. 

If the assessment fishery does go ahead next week, then DFO will contact the 
successful applicants as outlined in FN1057 for their interest in participating 
in the fishery.

The next announcement will be Wednesday October 23, 2019
