FN1058-Pacific Region Licence Appeal Board - Upcoming Meeting
The next PRLAB meeting is scheduled for January 28, 29 and 30, 2020.
Submissions for appeals must be received no later than Friday, January 3, 2020.
The meeting will take place at the Fisheries and Oceans Vancouver office
located at 401 Burrard Street, Vancouver.
Please note that prior to requesting to be scheduled to appear before the
PRLAB, each appellant must be first referred to the PRLAB by the Pacific
Fishery Licence Unit (PFLU) as a result of a denial or exemption from licensing
rules and policies being requested.
All appeals submitted to the PRLAB must be in writing and include detailed
reasons for the appeal and any additional relevant information.
Once your written submission is received, the PRLAB Liaison Officer will
schedule an appointment for your appeal to be heard at the next scheduled
meeting or the next meeting that you are able to attend. You will then be
notified of the date and time of your appointment with the PRLAB.
The Pacific Region Licence Appeal Board (PRLAB) is an independent advisory body
that hears individual appeals from fishers who are requesting an exemption from
Licencing rules and policies. The Board makes recommendations directly to the
Minister for a decision. The PRLAB will only hear appeal requests resulting
from a licencing decision by the Pacific Fishery Licence Unit (PFLU) within the
past two years.
The PRLAB does not make decisions on licence policy, and is strictly an
advisory body to the Minister regarding exceptions to licence policy. However,
the Board may provide advice to the Minister on policy which the Board feels
should be amended.
If you have not been contacted with a confirmation of your appointment time,
please contact Guinevere Pauls at 250-754-0241 at your earliest convenience.
Individuals and/or associations who wish to submit information for the review
and consideration of the PRLAB, may do so by providing a written submission to
either the appropriate fishery Resource Manager or to the A/PRLAB Liaison
Officer at the address below. Any submissions received by Friday, January 3rd,
2020 may still be provided to the PRLAB for review.
Information regarding specific appeals will not be made available.
Additional information on the PRLAB can be found online at http://www.pac.dfo-
mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/licence-permis/appeal-eng.html or by contacting the A/PRLAB
Liaison.
