FN0996-COMMERCIAL - Invertebrates: Intertidal Manila and Littleneck Clam - Area C - Savary Island - Portion of Area 15 - Opens September 29, 2019


Fishing for Littleneck and Manila clams by hand picking is permitted from 07:00 
hours September 29 to 19:00 hours September 29, 2019 for 1 tide in a portion of 
Subarea 15-2, described as the intertidal foreshore of Savary Island only. 

All clams are to be landed at Lund. 

Area C Proper remains closed.

Variation Order # 2019-533 is in effect.


Harvesting is prohibited in all sanitary contamination closures. 
This fishery will only take place provided Biotoxin levels and water quality 
remain acceptable. Harvesters are responsible for checking Fishery Notices for 
the Bivalve Shellfish Marine Biotoxin Updates, as recommended by the Canadian 
Food Inspection Agency and issued by DFO.

Shellfish harvesters are advised to monitor weather conditions and warnings and 
to plan their harvesting activities accordingly.

Harvesters should contact their respective buyers and processors prior to the 
fishery to ensure their product will be purchased.

Harvesting on shellfish aquaculture tenures is prohibited without explicit 
authorization of the tenure holder.

All eligible fishers must have their 2019 commercial clam licence and 2019 Fish 
Harvesters Registration Card, must carry valid photo identification along with 
their Fishing licences and meet the Conditions of that licence.

This includes:
Wear a high visibility vest with licence number marked on it. 
All containers holding clams shall be marked or tagged with the following 
information:
Licence number, Harvest date, Licence holder's name, beach or location where 
harvesting occurred and the Pacific Fisheries Management Subarea. Tags shall be 
waterproof and information shall be written in water resistant ink. No 
container of clams shall remain untagged during transport to market sale or a 
wet storage location in preparation for market sale.

Fishers should consult the 2019/21 Intertidal Clam Management Plan and the 
local DFO office for descriptions of closed areas and contact numbers for 
further information.
