FN0945-Emergency Closure for Bivalve Shellfish in a portion of Evans Bay, Subarea 13-17 which includes BC Land Registry Shellfish Aquaculture Tenure # 0343130
Effective immediately until further notice: Due to shellfish product on BC Land Registry Aquaculture Tenure # 0343130 exceeding the bacteriological standard for E.coli in raw shellfish, the Pacific Region Interdepartmental Shellfish Committee has agreed that a closure is warranted. Harvest of bivalve shellfish is now prohibited until further notice from a portion of Evans Bay in Subarea 13-17 which includes BC Land Registry Shellfish Aquaculture Tenure # 0343130. As per Section 6.3 of the CSSP Manual, the CFIA is recommending that landfile 0343130 be placed into closed status for a minimum of 7 days, after which re- sampling of the harvest site may occur. Emergency Closure Area 13.rr - Aquaculture Lease Land File # 0343130 The waters and intertidal foreshore of BC Land Registry aquaculture tenure # 0343130, in Subarea 13-17, Evans Bay, inside a line drawn from a point in water at 50°11.76' north latitude and 125°03.93' west longitude easterly to a point on land at 50°11.76' north latitude and 125°03.77'west longitude, thence northerly, westerly and southerly following the shoreline back to the point of commencement. January 1 to December 31 Note that this notice does not describe other sanitary closures which may be in effect, or Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP, red tide) and other marine biotoxin closures.
