Invertebrates: Manila and Littleneck Clam Area B 

Opens 02:00 hours September 9 to 17:00 hours, September 10, 2019 (2 tides) by 
hand picking in the following portions of Area B:

Subareas 13-12 to 13-17 only and a portion of 15-3 (Twin Islands), portion of 
15-5, Cortes Island excluding that portion south of a line drawn from a point 
on the northwest shoreline of Raza Island at 50°18.26' north latitude and 124°
58.10' west longitude, thence easterly to a point on the west coast of West 
Redonda Island at 50°18.12' north latitude and 124°55.48' west longitude, 
thence southerly following the shoreline of West Redonda Island to an point at 
50° 12.29' north latitude and 124°56.55' west longitude, thence southwesterly 
to a point on the northeast coast of Cortes Island at 50°11.74' north latitude 
and 124°56.94' west longitude, thence northwesterly following the shoreline of 
Cortes Island to Bullock Bluff, thence true north following the boundary line 
to Raza Island, and thence following the shoreline northeasterly back to the 
point of commencement.

This commercial opening excludes all areas which remain closed all year round 
as the 2019/2021 Commercial Harvest Plan (Appendix 1 pages 14 and 15): 

Manson's Landing Marine Park;
Rebecca Spit Provincial Park;
Octopus Islands Marine Park; 
Mitlenatch Island Nature Park; and
Inner Squirrel Cove.

Harvesting is prohibited in all sanitary contamination closures. 
Harvesters are responsible for checking Fishery Notices for the Bivalve 
Shellfish Marine Biotoxin Updates, as recommended by the Canadian Food 
Inspection Agency and issued by DFO.

Harvesters are advised to observe the boundaries of any intertidal tenures. 
Harvesting on any tenures is prohibited under this fishery opening unless 
authorized by the tenure holder.

All eligible fishers must have their 2019 licence and meet the conditions of 
that licence (wear a high visibility vest with licence number clearly marked on 
it and the sacks of clams must be immediately tagged with the licence number as 
soon as clams are placed in it). All licence holders must carry valid photo 
identification along with their licences.

Fishers should consult the 2019/21 Intertidal Clam Management Plan and the 
local DFO office for descriptions of closed areas and contact numbers for 
further information. For descriptions of the commercial closure areas see 
appendix 1, pages 13 to 14 of the Intertidal Clam IFMP.
