Fishery Notice

CHANGES TO THE 2019/2020 RECREATIONAL FISHERY:

Clam: The daily harvest limit for various clam species under the recreational 
harvest licence for 2019-20 has been amended to:

The daily limit for Butter Clam is twenty (20);
the daily limit for Manila Clam is sixty (60);
the daily limit for Littleneck Clam is sixty (60).

Note: Other clam species have unchanged daily limits as follows -
The daily limit for Geoduck is three (3);
the daily limit for Horse Clam is six (6);
the daily limit for Razor Clam is twelve (12);
the daily limit for Softshell Clam is twenty-five (25);
the daily limit for Cockles is twenty-five (25);
the daily limit for Varnish Clam is twenty (20).

The aggregate daily limit for all Clam species is sixty (60).

The possession limit for an individual species is twice the daily limit. 

Clam harvest levels have increased in some areas in recent years and in order 
to reduce harvest levels to achieve conservation objectives the daily limit of 
Manila, Littleneck and Butter Clam have been reduced.

Variation Order 2019-RFQ-270 is in effect.

information on:

a) open areas where these species may be retained, and
b) closed or protected areas where these species may not be retained.

Reminder: Eating contaminated shellfish can be life threatening! Closures 
change frequently throughout the year. It is illegal to harvest shellfish from 
closed or contaminated areas.
