FN0406-COMMERCIAL - Salmon Advisory Board - 2019 Area Harvest Committee Representative Election: Voting Now Open
This notice is to announce that the Commercial Salmon Advisory Board (CSAB) Salmon Area Harvest Committee Representative Election is now open for voting. Ballots are being emailed out to salmon licence eligibility holders on May 3, 2019 to the email associated with each vessel licence. The deadline for submission of election ballots is 23:59 on Friday May 31, 2019. If you have not received an email from vote@simplyvoting.com, please contact Mikaela Bacon via email at Mikaela.Bacon@dfo-mpo.gc.ca or by phone at 604-666- 3140 for voting support. The Area Harvest Committees provide a forum for the exchange of information and advice between stakeholders and DFO on issues important to the management of salmon fisheries. It is important that eligible voters submit their voting ballots to elect their representatives. The election will be for the entire board. Half of the positions which receive the most votes will be for 2 year terms and the other half of positions will be for 1 year terms. Voting Information: To cast your ballot, please use the link provided in the ballot email. The link will direct you to your area ballot where you can vote for up to the specified number of candidates and submit your vote online. Ballots may also be casted via telephone by calling 1-866-398-2715 and entering the personal pin number provided in the ballot email. Once the ballot has been submitted, a confirmation of receipt will be e-mailed out. After the voting deadline is completed, the election results will be announced via Fishery Notice. NOTE: Some vacancies remain in areas and while all nominees will be declared elected by acclamation, an election is still needed in each area as half of the positions which receive the most votes will be for 2 year terms and the other half of positions will be for 1 year terms. Timeline for the Election Process: 1) Eligible voters were asked to complete and submit nomination forms to nominate their Salmon Area Harvest Committee representatives by Friday April 19, 2019.
