FN0293-Commercial Tuna Fisheries Openings and Final Pacific Albacore Tuna Integrated Fisheries Management Plan for 2019-2020

Commercial fisheries for tuna species within the Canadian Exclusive Zone (EEZ) 
and the offshore high seas will be open effective April 1, 2019 at 00:01 hours 
via variation orders 2019-198 and 2019-199.

The Pacific Albacore Tuna fishery in the USA EEZ will remain closed until June 
15, 2019.

Additionally, Fisheries and Oceans Canada has finalized the 2019-2020 
Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) for Pacific Albacore Tuna. Only 
minor changes have been made relative to the draft that was circulated for 
public comment on January 15, 2019. A copy of the final IFMP can be requested 
by sending an email to bradley.langman@dfo-mpo.gc.ca.
