FN0225-Groundfish - Addition of a Pilot Closure to Bottom Trawl Fishing for the Remainder of the 2019/20 Season.

DFO has agreed to implement a recommendation from the Groundfish Trawl Advisory
Committee to pilot a new area closed to bottom trawl fishing for the remainder
of the 2019/20 fishery.

The pilot closure is intended to reduce conflicts between the commercial
groundfish trawl and Halibut fishing sectors at a fishing location in the Queen
Charlotte Sound area known as the Circle Tow by the groundfish trawl fleet and
the 800 Line by the Halibut fleet.

Effective 12:00(noon) on Sunday, March 17, 2019 the waters inside the following
co-ordinates will be closed to fishing for groundfish with bottom trawl gear:

Starting from a point at 51° 51.900 N 130° 35.200 W
Then true west to 51° 51.900 N 130° 36.120 W

Then southwest to 51° 50.500 N 130° 38.500 W
Then southeast to 51° 50.100 N 130° 38.400 W
Then southeast to 51° 49.100 N 130° 37.800 W
Then southeast to 51° 48.700 N 130° 37.000 W
Then northeast to 51° 49.300 N 130° 34.800 W
Then northeast to 51° 50.400 N 130° 34.500 W
Then northwest to 51° 51.400 N 130° 34.800 W
Then back to the starting point at 51° 51.900 N 130° 35.200 W

The pilot closure will be evaluated at the end of the 2019/20 season.
