FN0211-COMMERCIAL - Herring: Spawn on Kelp - 2019 Licence Issuance Information
2019 Commercial Spawn on Kelp (J) and Communal Commercial Spawn on Kelp (FJ) is now available for payment in the Pacific Region through the National Online Licensing System (NOLS). Licence eligibility holders will use the National Online Licensing System (NOLS) to view, pay for and print their commercial fishing licences, licence conditions, and/or receipts https://fishing-peche.dfo-mpo.gc.ca. A reminder that all licence renewal fee payments must be made through the NOLS. For communal commercial licences, even though the fees are $0.00, clients are required to add a checkmark beside the licence(s) to renew, and click "Checkout" through NOLS. To avoid delays, please ensure the licence renewal fee and the seine vessels that are used to capture and impound herring are identified and submitted through NOLS at the same time. Up to three operating vessels may be designated. Seine vessels used to capture and impound herring are not required to hold a vessel based commercial fishing licence eligibility on the vessel; however, they must be registered as Canadian commercial fishing vessel with DFO. When designating a vessel(s), licence eligibility holders may submit the required information (designated vessel's name and VRN) (Vessel Registration Number) via the 'Submit a Request' menu selection within the National Online Licensing System (NOLS). Full instructions are available at: http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/sdc-cps/products-produits/request-demande- eng.htm. The licence eligibility holder, or in the case of a First Nation, the First Nation's representative must be on site at all time during operation. Upon the Department receiving the required payment, and vessel information, the licence will be issued and notification will be sent via email to advise Licence Holders/vessel owners that a change has been made to the licence holder's online account. The licence documents, licence conditions and receipt will be available to be printed at that time. You are reminded that the Spawn on Kelp licence eligibility fees must be paid annually to maintain the licence eligibility, whether or not the licence is fished. Failure to do so will result in loss of that licence eligibility. To obtain a copy of the current Pacific Region Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP): Contact Steven Groves at steven.groves@dfo-mpo.gc.ca Client support will be available via e-mail (fishing-peche@dfo-mpo.gc.ca) or toll-free telephone (1-877-535-7307).
