Fishery Notice

Strait of Georgia - Roe Seine Fishery Opened March 9, 2019

Effective 15:45 hours, March 9, 2019 and until further notice the roe herring 
seine fishery is open to Areas 14-1 to 14-13, and 14-15 in the SOG, excluding 
Comox Harbour. This opening is pursuant to Variation Order, No. 2019-HS-GULF-
01. Fishing on the opening day was focused on the Northwest Bay area.

This opening is on the advice from the seine pool captain's to have a seine 
fishery opening based on a sample taken in NW Bay this morning with an average 
10.9% roe, 19.8 cm, 108.5 gm fish, with an estimated 9,000 tons in the area. 
The DFO on-grounds management have accepted this advice. Total seine TAC in the 
Strait of Georgia is 8,311 tons.
