Fishery Notice

This notice amends FN1092 to implement in-season actions currently in place for 
Fraser River Chum.  The full notice text follows.

The recreational fishery for salmon in the non-tidal waters of the Fraser River 
will close for a period of time to protect Thompson and Chilcotin River 
steelhead.  This notice provides management actions to December 31, 2018. 
Please note that salmon fishing will not open until late July 2019 at the 
earliest on the Fraser River.

Waters: Fraser River in Region 2 from the downstream side of the CPR Bridge at 
Mission, BC to the Highway 1 Bridge at Hope, BC.

Effective September 29 at 00:01 hours until October 25, 2018 at 23:59 hours, 
you may not fish for salmon. 

Effective October 26 at 00:01 hours until December 31, 2018 at 23:59 hours:

- The daily limit for Chinook salmon is four (4) with only one (1) greater than 
62 cm.
- The daily limit for Coho salmon is two (2) hatchery marked fish only.  You 
may not retain wild Coho.
- You may not retain Chum, Sockeye or Pink salmon.

Waters:  The Fraser River in Region 2 from the Highway 1 Bridge at Hope, BC to 
the confluence with Sawmill Creek.

Effective September 29 at 00:01 hours until December 31, 2018 at 23:59 hours, 
you may not fish for salmon.

Waters:  The Fraser River in Region 2 upstream of the confluence with Sawmill 
Creek.

Effective September 29, 2018 at 00:01 hours until further notice, you may not 
fish for salmon.

Day light hours only refers to (One hour before sunrise to one hour after 
sunset).  Reference to sunrise and sunset means the times for those events as 
calculated by the National Research Council of Canada and published daily at 
http://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-45_metric_e.html.

Notes:

The aggregate daily limit for all species of Pacific salmon (other than 
kokanee) from tidal and non-tidal waters combined is four (4). 

There is an annual limit of 10 Chinook over 50 cm in non-tidal waters

There is a minimum size limit of 30 cm for Chinook caught in non-tidal waters. 

Single barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in non-tidal waters 
of British Columbia.

Sport anglers and guides are reminded to label and submit heads from adipose 
fin-clipped (hatchery-marked) Chinook and Coho salmon to the Salmon Head 
Recovery Program. Recovery of coded-wire tags from recreational fishers 
provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment.  For 	more
