FN0995-ABORIGINAL - Salmon: Economic Opportunities - Sockeye - Region 7 - UFISH Commercial Fishing Enterprise on Fraser Lake Opening September 17, 2018
A commercial economic opportunity fishery is authorized for the Upper Fraser Indigenous Sustainable Harvesters Association using purse seines in the west end of Fraser Lake directed on sockeye salmon. Mandatory non-retention of all Chinook, Coho, steelhead, and sturgeon is in effect. This fishery is open from 00:01 hours Monday, September 17, 2018 until further notice. Only individuals designated to participate in the commercial demonstration fishery by the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council, a member of the UFISH Commercial Fishing Enterprise, are authorized to participate in this fishery. All aspects of the communal licence will be enforced. Notes: Monitoring requirements will include daily E-log reporting and independent validation of catch within 48 hours after offload at the plant.
