FN0849-COMMERCIAL - Salmon: Gill Net - Fraser River Sockeye - Area D - Areas 11, 12, 13 - Potential Opening Notification Delayed to August 25, 2018

The Area D gill net fleet should be advised that the potential opening 
described in Fishery Notice 0832 for Fraser Sockeye in portions of Areas 11, 
12, and 13 planned to start at 12:00 hours on August 24, 2018 will not occur as 
planned. There is some uncertainty on the strength of Summer-run Fraser Sockeye 
and the Department will be reviewing catches to date in all fisheries. The 
Department will meet again on Friday, August 24, 2018 to review all of the 
available data and a decision will be made for an Area D gill net potential 
opening starting at 12:00 hours on August 25, 2018. A decision will be 
announced by Fishery Notice. Area D gill net fishers should be on standby for 
this potential opening on August 25, 2018.
