Fishery Notice

Thompson River:

Effective 00:01 hours August 22, 2018 until further notice in the waters of the 
Thompson River (Region 3) from the outlet of Kamloops Lake, including Kamloops 
Lake downstream to fishing boundary signs located just downstream of Gold Pan 
Provincial Park except closed in the three locations listed below, you may 
retain:

Two (2) Sockeye per day
Four (4) Chinook per day, only one over 50 cm

Description of three closed areas:

1)  Deadman - from the fishing boundary signs approximately 1 km downstream of 
the Hwy No. 1 Bridge at Savona to the CN rail bridge approximately 500 m 
downstream of the confluence with Deadman Creek. 

2)  Juniper - from the fishing boundary signs approximately 1.5 km downstream 
from Juniper Beach Park downstream approximately 4 km to the fishing boundary 
signs located at 50°46.893' N and 121°08.110' W. 

3)  Ashcroft - from the fishing boundary sign at the upstream side of the mouth 
of the Bonaparte River to Hwy 97C bridge in Ashcroft.


Thompson River Continued: 

ACTIONS: Effective August 22 at 01:00 hours until September 22, 2018 at 23:59 
hours during daylight hours only, you may retain 4 Chinook per day, none over 
50 cm in the waters of the Thompson River from the WTFB signs just downstream 
of Gold Pan Provincial Park to the confluence with the Fraser River.

South Thompson River

ACTIONS: Effective August 16 at 00:01 hours until September 22, 2018 at 23:59 
hours during daylight hours only, you may retain 4 Chinook per day, only 2 over 
50 cm in the waters of the South Thompson River from the green can buoy near 
outlet of Little River, including Little Shuswap Lake, to the fishing boundary 
sign approximately 100 m downstream of Campbell Creek

There is a monthly quota of six (6) Chinook over 50 cm from the South Thompson 
River.

Effective August 22 at 00:01 hours until September 22, 2018 at 23:50 hours 
during daylight hours only you may retain two (2) Sockeye per day and 4 Chinook 
per day only two over 50 cm in the waters of the South Thompson River from the 
green can buoy near outlet of Little River, including Little Shuswap Lake, to 
the fishing boundary sign approximately 100 m downstream of Campbell Creek.

Fraser River

ACTIONS: Effective August 22 at 00:01 hours until September 15, 2018 at 23:59 
hours during daylight hours only, you may retain 4 Chinook per day, none over 
50 cm in the waters of the main stem Fraser River in Region 3.

Daylight hours only refer to one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset.  
Reference to sunrise and sunset means the times for those events as calculated 
by the National Research Council of Canada and published daily at 
http://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-45_metric_e.html

Day light hours only refers to (One hour before sunrise to one hour after

Notes:

The aggregate daily limit for all species of Pacific salmon (other than 
Kokanee) from tidal and non-tidal waters combined is four (4). 

There is an annual limit of 10 Chinook over 50 cm in non-tidal waters.

There is a minimum size limit of 30 cm for Chinook caught in non-tidal waters. 

Single barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in non-tidal waters 
of British Columbia.

Sport anglers and guides are reminded to label and submit heads from adipose 
fin-clipped (hatchery-marked) Chinook and Coho salmon to the Salmon Head 
Recovery Program. Recovery of coded-wire tags from recreational fishers 
provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment.  For more
