FN0401-COMMERCIAL - Roe Herring - 2018 - Herring Industry Advisory Board: Upcoming Election and Call for Nominees
The Herring Industry Advisory Board (HIAB) provides representation to the department's Integrated Herring Harvest Planning Committee (IHHPC) and provides formal advice and makes recommendations to the Department on policy and operational decisions related to commercial herring fishery planning in the Pacific Region. The terms of the elected seine and gillnet HIAB representatives from 2014 have expired. There will be an election held this summer for 5 elected seine representatives and 5 elected gill net representatives for HIAB in a two stage process. The first stage involves nomination of candidates. One nomination may be made for each licence eligibility. Holders of more than one licence eligibility may submit nominations for each licence eligibility that they hold. The nominee does not have to be a roe herring licence eligibility holder. The nominee must agree to be a representative. A licence eligibility holder may nominate themselves by submitting their own name. Only one nomination may be made per form. Forms nominating more than one individual will be deemed invalid. Nomination forms must be signed by the nominator (i.e. the licence eligibility holder).
