Fishery Notice

Pending approval, the Pacific Herring Integrated Fisheries Management 
Plan (IFMP), herring food and bait option (seine only) is available for 
election. Area selection and vessel designation is NOT available until further 
notice. 

If you wish to select the option to move roe herring seine quota to the food 
and bait fishery please complete the Area Selection Form (page 2 of your 
licence document), enter the food and bait licence number. 

For 2018, roe herring seine licence holders (only) may select to harvest in the 
food and bait fishery in the Strait of Georgia (SOG) area only. 

If this option is selected, the seine licences will not be eligible to 
participate in the 2018 roe herring fishery and will instead receive an 
additional 46 ton quota on their existing food and bait (ZM) licence.

Selection into the Food and Bait fishery is a one way process only and may not 
be reversed.

Please note the following: 

- Licence renewal applications will not be mailed this year. 

- Access to licencing services is only available via the National Online 
Licensing System (NOLS). 



LICENSING INSTRUCTIONS:

(A) REQUEST FOOD AND BAIT SELECTION REQUEST FORM
- Login to your National Online Licensing System (NOLS) account.
- Create a Licensing Services Not Listed Above Request
- Indicate in the comments box the ZM Licence Number, and HS Licence Number, 
and that you request an Application form for the Seine Food and Bait Option. 
- Submit your request. A licensing officer will review your request, and attach 
the Food and Bait Selection Request form to the request. 

(B) PRINT and COMPLETE FOOD AND BAIT OPTION SELECTION REQUEST form. 
- Herring Food and Bait option (Seine only) - if you wish to select the option 
to move roe herring seine quota to the Food and Bait fishery please indicate 
the Food and Bait licence number). 

(C) SUBMIT FOOD AND BAIT OPTION SELECTION REQUEST FORM:

- Food and Bait option (Seine only) by Feb 12, 2018. Upon receipt of the form 
the PFLU will process the document. 
You may submit you document via Fax, E-mail, or by attaching it to the existing 
NOLS request.

(D) PRINT LICENCE DOCUMENTS  
Once your document has been processed, the licence documents will be made 
available in your NOLS account, on the NOLS request. You will need to navigate 
back to your request in NOLS, click on the Request number, and download the 
document. You may then print the document. For assistance with using NOLS, 
please refer to the online User Training Manual, found at: http://www.dfo-
mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/sdc-cps/products-produits/user-manual-utilisateurs-eng.htm or 
by calling 1-877-535-7307.

REMINDER:  You will need your User ID and Password to access your NOLS account.
