FN0008-GENERAL INFORMATION: Fisheries and Aquaculture Clean Technology Adoption Program
On December 18, 2017, Karen Ludwig, Member of Parliament for New Brunswick Southwest, on behalf of the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard launched the Fisheries and Aquaculture Clean Technology Adoption Program (FACTAP). The program will provide funding of up to $20 million over four years to Canada's fisheries and aquaculture industries to implement market-ready clean technologies, processes, and practices into their day-to-day operations. The funding will make our fisheries and aquaculture greener through investments such as: -helping fish harvesters convert their vessels to clean alternative fuels; -making modifications to fishing equipment and practices to improve catch monitoring; -reducing energy use on aquaculture sites; and -improving farm technology and operations. To be eligible, you must be active in or support activities related to the fish and seafood sectors, such as harvesting, aquaculture, and processing. FACTAP can provide funding of up to 75% of eligible project costs, however, the applicant must also receive funding from provincial or territorial governments of at least 10% of the project cost in cash or in-kind. Interested parties can find more information and apply for funding through the DFO website at: http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/aquaculture/business-entreprises/factap-application- patppa-eng.htm Should you have more questions about the Fisheries and Aquaculture Clean Technology Adoption Program, please email: DFO.PAC.FACTAP-PATTPA.PAC.MPO@dfo-mpo.gc.ca FOR MORE INFORMATION: Shirley Choi, Regional Program Coordinator, Fisheries and Aquaculture Clean Technology Adoption Program DFO.PAC.FACTAP-PATTPA.PAC.MPO@dfo-mpo.gc.ca
