FN1004-Region 3 - Retention of Pink Salmon in Kamloops Lake, Thompson River and South Thompson Rivers
This notice updates notice FN0950 for management actions for Kamloops Lake, the Thompson River and the South Thompson Rivers only. Thompson River ---------------- Effective immediately until Tuesday, September 22, 2015, in the waters of Kamloops Lake and the Thompson River from the outlet of Kamloops Lake downstream to fishing boundary signs located just downstream of Gold Pan Provincial Park except closed in the three locations listed below, you may retain: - Four (4) chinook per day, only one over 50 cm; - Two (2) pink salmon per day. The daily aggregate limit of four salmon per day still applies. Description of three closed areas: 1) Deadman - from the fishing boundary signs approximately 1 km downstream of the Hwy No. 1 Bridge at Savona to the CN rail bridge approximately 500 m downstream of the confluence with Deadman Creek. 2) Juniper -from the fishing boundary signs approximately 1.5 km downstream from Juniper Beach park downstream approximately 4 km to the fishing boundary signs located at 50°46.893' N and 121°08.110' W. 3) Ashcroft - from the fishing boundary sign at the up stream side of the mouth of the Bonaparte River to Hwy 97C bridge in Ashcroft. South Thompson River ---------------- Effective immediately until Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in the waters of the South Thompson River from the green can buoy near the outlet of Little River, including Little Shuswap Lake, to the fishing boundary sign approximately 100 m downstream of Campbell Creek, you may retain: - Four (4) chinook per day, only two (2) of which may be over 50 cm. - Two (2) pink salmon per day. There is a monthly quota of six (6) chinook over 50 cm from the South Thompson River. Fishing is permitted during daylight hours only. The daily aggregate limit of four salmon per day still applies. VO No. 2015-443 Notes: Single barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in non-tidal waters of British Columbia. Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and coho salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment. Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program toll free at (866) 483-9994 for further information. If you're going fishing for salmon in non-tidal (fresh) waters, you need a Non- Tidal Angling Licence, issued by the Province of British Columbia. Visit the provincial website to buy your licence.
