FN1294-SANITARY - Rainfall Warning for the Sunshine Coast, B.C. has been Issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada's Weather Service.
Please be advised that intense rainfall events resulting in flooding and/or sewage collection system overflows, can adversely affect marine water quality and potentially result in temporary emergency shellfish harvesting closures. Although there is no proposed closure at this time, shellfish harvesters are advised to monitor weather conditions and warnings, and to plan their harvesting activities accordingly. Issued at 2025-12-09 4:21PM PST by Environment Canada: Yellow level warning - rainfall - issued for: Sunshine Coast - Gibsons to Earls Cove, B.C. (082310) Impact Level: Moderate Forecast Confidence: High Rain, at times heavy, is expected. What: Rainfall amounts from 50 to 80 mm. When: Tuesday evening through Wednesday evening. Where: Sunshine Coast (Gibsons to Earls Cove). Remarks: An atmospheric river will arrive on the South Coast of BC bringing heavy rain tonight through Wednesday. Warm air with the system will cause freezing levels to rise and snowmelt combined with the rain may result in high streamflows and localized flooding. The highest rainfall amounts can be expected near the Coast Mountains with the southwest and upslope flow enhancing precipitation rates. Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced at times. Don't drive through flooded roadways.
