FN1146-COMMERCIAL - Invertebrates: Intertidal Manila, Littleneck and Butter Clams - Areas 1 to 29 - Consultation for 2026-29 Intertidal Clam Integrated Fisheries Management Plan
The Intertidal Clam Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) is a three year plan, with the next version covering the period from March 1, 2026 to February 28, 2029, and a draft is now available for your review and comment. Feedback must be submitted by November 26, 2025 to be considered for the 2026-29 version of the IFMP. To obtain a copy of the draft IFMP, please contact Brittany Myhal at Brittany.Myhal@dfo-mpo.gc.ca. The Commercial Harvest Plan, First Nation Harvest Plan, Recreational Fishery Harvest Plan and the Decontamination Harvest Plan are components of the IFMP document. There continues to be a fishery in Area 1 for razor clams that is co-managed with the Council of Haida Nation; however the commercial and recreational fisheries have not been opened due to stock assessments which indicate the biomass of razor clams is below the Limit Reference Point and in the Critical Zone. There is also a commercial fishery in Area 7 that is co-managed with the Heiltsuk First Nation. These fisheries have their own management plans which are currently under development but are similar to previous years. For more information: Brittany Myhal Brittany.Myhal@dfo-mpo.gc.ca
