FN1120-Survey: Causes of Aquaculture Gear Loss in British Columbia - Amendment to FN1066
This fishery notice amends FN1066. The full corrected fishery notice follows: Canada has recognized the threat that ghost gear poses in our waters and around the world, and we have identified the issue as one of national importance. We are committed to taking concrete actions to support ghost gear prevention, retrieval and responsible disposal. As part of this work DFO's Ghost Gear Program has contracted a survey to better understand the impacts of abandoned, lost, or otherwise discarded fishing and aquaculture gear (ALDFG) on commercial fish stocks and the environment, including socioeconomic effects. The project scope also includes looking at the management of end-of-life aquaculture gear in the Pacific region. The anonymous survey will help us to better understand the types of aquaculture gear commonly lost, the causes of loss, and the practices used to avoid loss. The survey should take about 20 minutes to complete. Please fill it out to the best of your ability by Friday, October 24. Link to survey: https://form.jotform.com/252574440092051
