FN1079-Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative - Pacific Salmon Commercial Licence Retirement Program Round 5 Update


This notice is to provide an update on the Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative - Pacific Salmon Commercial Licence Retirement Program (LRP). 

The LRP provides an opportunity for salmon licence eligibility holders and/or vessel owners to retire their licence eligibilities.

The fifth round of the LRP has now concluded. The Department reviewed offers to retire 142 licence eligibilities of which 102 were selected for retirement based on evaluation criteria and available funds. In total, vessel owners and licence eligibility holders have accepted offers to retire 65 licence eligibilities.

Offers accepted in the fourth round include the retirement of 13 seine, 46 gill net and 6 troll licence eligibilities. 

Since program launch, a total of 538 licence eligibilities have been retired after five rounds of licence retirements. These are the licence eligibilities retired by area:

Any vessel owners who have successfully retired their commercial salmon licence eligibility(s) may be eligible to participate in the Derelict Vessel Mitigation and Gear Disposal Program which provides an opportunity to dispose of vessels and/or gear in an environmentally friendly way.
