Fishery Notice

A draft of the 2025-26 the Pacific Tuna Integrate Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) is available for review and comment. The 30-day comment period for this draft ends on February 19.

Note that the draft does not include commercial fishing plans for vessels operating under the Canada-USA Tuna Treaty because there is currently no agreement on a treaty fishing regime for the 2025 season. The Indigenous Fishing Plan, Recreational Fishing Plan, and fishing plans for Canadian commercial tuna vessels operating outside USA waters have received only minor updates relative to last year. The broad objectives for the IFMP (outlined in section 5) have been updated and clarified; however, no changes to management measures are proposed in the draft. Data for 2024 commercial landings and prices are not yet available; these data will be provided in the final version to be posted in April.
