Fishery Notice

Under agreement with the Lax Kw'alaams Band Council, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is closing portions of Area 3 for food, social and ceremonial harvesting of all bivalves given the deviance from the sampling requirements established under the biotoxin monitoring program.

A description of the closed areas will be posted at the Lax Kw'alaams Band Office and Recreational Centre, can be obtained from the Lax Kw'alaams Fisheries Program, and is detailed in the 2022-23 Lax Kw'alaams Intertidal Bivalve Community Harvest Plan. The harvest areas are very specific and all harvesters must consult with Lax Kw'alaams Fisheries Program staff before harvesting.
