FN0678-RECREATIONAL - Shellfish and Finfish - Reminder of Area Closures for Harvesting While Diving
REMINDER OF AREA CLOSURES FOR HARVESTING WHILE DIVING
Please note the following year-round area closures where harvesting while
diving is prohibited, including hand-picking or spear-fishing while diving, for
all shellfish and finfish species; this prohibition includes both skin-diving
and SCUBA diving.
AREA 13:
--------
The waters of Discovery Passage, in the Campbell River area, bounded by a
straight line from North Bluff on Quadra Island, across Seymour Narrows to a
fishing boundary sign on Vancouver Island, and to the south by a line from the
light on the end of the south Government Dock breakwater at Campbell River to
Cape Mudge lighthouse.
AREA 14:
--------
The southeasterly shoreline of Hornby Island, from Shingle Spit southerly
through Norman Point, Downes Point, Tribune Bay and St. John Point to Cape
Gurney, including Heron Rocks, Norris Rocks, and Flora Islet.
AREA 15:
--------
(1) All waters within 0.8 km of Vivian Island, approximately 8 km west of
Powell River;
(2) all waters within 0.5 km of Rebecca Rock, west of Powell River;
(3) all waters within 0.5 km of Dinner Rock, just south of Lund;
(4) all waters adjacent to the unnamed reef off Emmonds Beach, approximately
6 km south of Lund;
(5) all waters within 1.3 km of Mitlenatch Island, in the upper Strait of
Georgia; and
(6) all waters within a 0.5 km radius of the southerly end of the Beach Garden
Breakwater.
AREA 19:
--------
In the Victoria area, Ogden Point Breakwater, consisting of those waters inside
a line from the navigation light at the western end of the causeway, thence to
Brotchie Ledge Light, thence to Holland Point on Vancouver Island.
PACIFIC RIM NATIONAL PARK:
--------------------------
All tidal waters within the park, including portions of Areas 20 to 24, 121,
123 and 124. Please see the park area map and marine boundaries in the Sport

Reminder: Eating contaminated shellfish can be life threatening! Closures
