Fishery Notice

Harvesters are reminded that vessel masters for all commercial tuna vessels are 
required to maintain a complete and accurate harvest log (logbook) and keep 
this log on board the licenced vessel while conducting fishing activities. Note 
that harvest logs which meet the requirements of the Department are available 
for purchase from the Canadian Highly Migratory Species Foundation (CHMSF), 
4829 Maplegrove Street, Victoria, BC, V8Y 3B9, (250) 658-0179.

Harvesters are additionally reminded to review hail requirements specified in 
Conditions of Licence. Tuna hail reports must be submitted to the industry 
selected hail service provider (Archipelago Marine Research Ltd.). The costs 
for this service are provided through the purchase of a CHMSF logbook. Licence 
holders who have not purchased a CHMSF logbook must make alternative 
arrangements with the service provider in advance of commencing fishing 
activities.
