Fishery Notice

Non-tidal portion of the Kitimat River (and tributaries) downstream of the Hwy 
#37 bridge:

Effective immediately to July 31, 2019 - One (1) Chinook per day, of which, 
wild Chinook must be under 80cm, or hatchery (adipose fin clipped) Chinook can 
be any size larger than 30cm.

Tidal portion of the Kitimat River of Subarea 6-1 that is north of a line from 
the old Eurocan dock at 53 degrees 59.600 minutes North 128 degrees 40.733 
minutes West to the kiosk at MK Bay marina at 53 degrees 58.841 minutes North 
128 degrees 39.144 minutes West:

Effective immediately to July 31, 2019 - One (1) chinook per day, of which, 
wild Chinook must be under 80 cm, or hatchery (adipose fin  clipped) Chinook 
can be any size larger than 45cm.

Notes:

Possession limits are two times the daily limits.

Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal waters of British 
Columbia.  

The term "marked" means a hatchery fish that has a healed scar in place of the 
adipose fin.

Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery 
program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and 
coho salmon.  Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for 
coast-wide stock assessment.  Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program 
toll free at (866) 483-9994 for further information.

Anglers are advised to check http://bcsportfishguide.ca for fishing closures 
and other recreational fishing information.
