FN0499-GENERAL INFORMATION - Online Consultation Starts for Rockfish Conservation Areas in Northern Shelf Bioregion

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is currently reviewing the design and 
management of Rockfish Conservation Areas (RCAs). We are seeking feedback from 
fish harvesters, Indigenous groups, and other interested Canadians on ways to 
improve RCAs in the Northern Shelf Bioregion. RCAs in the Southern Shelf and 
Strait of Georgia Bioregions will be reviewed at a later stage.

Online consultation is now available through on the DFO website: 
http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/consultation/ground-fond/rca-acs/index-eng.html  

The online consultation period will close to new input on July 31, 2019. A full-
day workshop is also planned in Campbell River on June 11, 2019. There will be 
more opportunities to give feedback in later stages of the review.
