FN0360-RECREATIONAL - General Information - Regarding Online Reporting Programs of BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishers
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) conducts two official internet reporting programs of BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence holders to collect data on recreational fishing activity and catch in the tidal waters of British Columbia. The internet Recreational Effort and Catch (iREC) reporting program is run monthly to provide information on fishing activity. The internet Annual Recreational Catch (iARC) reporting program is run annually to provide catch records of Chinook salmon, lingcod and halibut. These internet reporting programs are two of the tools used to estimate tidal waters recreational fishing effort and catch in the Pacific Region. When an adult purchases a Tidal Waters Sport fishing licence, they may be randomly selected to participate in a reporting program. It is a condition of Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licences to respond to the reporting program. Licence holders can only be selected to participate in one internet reporting program for each licence they hold. If selected for either program, a link to the reporting program and an access ID will be provided at the bottom of the licence. If selected for the iARC reporting program, please retain your licence and those of any juvenile fishers in your household until April 1, 2020 when the program becomes available. The reporting programs are conducted for DFO by PRA Inc. Individual responses remain strictly confidential and are protected in accordance with the provisions of the federal Privacy Act: http://laws- lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/P-21/index.html These reporting programs rely on a commitment from users of the resource to report their fishing activity, so our fisheries can be managed to provide the best sustainable fishing opportunities possible. Thank you for your cooperation and contribution to these important reporting programs. "Your catch counts" Use the Observe, Record, Report line - 1-800-465-4336 - to report suspicious or illegal activities on the water.
