MV Victoria Rose started the 19 day spawn reconnaissance survey of the major 
stock assessment area (2E)on April 1, and was joined by Haida Fisheries Program 
charter vessel MV Luxana on April 3.  Luxana will assist with spawn 
reconnaissance for approximately 12 days.  The MV Haida Spirit started the 18 
day dive assessment on April 4 and is currently assessing spawns in the 
Burnaby/Skincuttle area. 

In the minor stock assessment area(2W), MV Atlas has completed surface surveys 
of Port Louis and Port Chanal.  No spawn was found in Seal Inlet and Atlas is 
proceeding to Kano Inlet today before completing the 6 day Charter tomorrow 
(April 6).    

Area 2E

Active spawns;

March 30 and 31; Approximately 5-6 nm of active spawn from Section Cove to 
Scudder Point; 3 nm active spawn at Poole Inlet; subsiding April 3.

April 2 and 3; South end and East side of Huxley Is.; 1 nm; Head of Island Bay; 
0.5 nm; Entrance of Slim Inlet to Huston Pt.; 0.75 nm 

April 4;  W side of Section Island down to Marker Creek; All the way around the 
head of Island Bay; 2/3 of the E shore of Huxley Island; Tangle Cove and the 
kelp patch and rock in front; George Bay to W side of the entrance to Slim 
Inlet; E side of the entrance to Slim Inlet around into Huston Inlet to Boulder 
Island; Head of Huston Inlet; Swan Bay from Smithe Pt to the point west of 
Kingfisher Cove.

Area 2W 

Surface surveys;

Port Louis; April 2; 1.5 nm light spawn(0.5-1.5 layers) including spawn 
observed by Queen's Reach on March 19 as well as additional spawn approximately 
8 days old; 80% of shore of Otard Bay; approximately 3.5 nm of heavy spawn (4-6 
layers); also surveyed heavy spawn in shallows around Islet S. of MacIntosh Pt. 
heavy spawn surveyed.

Port Chanal; April 3; approximately 1.5 nm of light spawn surveyed.

Seal Inlet; April 4;  No spawn found.
