Central Coast Herring Bulletin #9
March 29, 2019: 
 
The test vessel Windward Isle has been focussing sounding efforts in the 
Southern parts of Area 7 and Area 8.  They conducted three successful test 
sets; at Illahie Inlet, Mustang Bay, and West of Waskesiu Passage for a total 
of eight samples to date.

The spawn in Kitasu Bay continued to expand March 28, with new spawn observed 
on the North shore of Osment Inlet to Wingate Point.  Spawn was also observed  
outside Kitasu Bay between Wilby Point and Abrams Point.   
 
New spawn was observed in Stryker Bay, the entrance to Yeo Cove, the Western 
shore of Watch Island and West of Waskesiu Pass.     

No new spawn was observed at Norman Morison Bay.  Spawn at Bullen Rock 
continues to spread to the West, spawn in Troup Passage has expanded.

Area 10:
Area 10 Spawn: New spawn was observed March 25 on the North shore of Boswell 
Inlet across from Olive Point, starting at 51° 20.66'N and 127° 32.76'W and 
extending 1.1nm to the East.   No newer spawn reported. 
 
 
 
Definitions:
Scratches - Herring present in small schools 1 to 2 tons
Skimmer - Herring spread out near the surface, difficult to quantify
Fish on bottom (FOB) - Herring too close to the bottom to quantify
NFF - No Fish Found
Washed out spawn - Spawn that is coming to an end
Miles - Means nautical miles for this bulletin
