FN0312-ABORIGINAL and COMMERCIAL - Herring - Roe: Test Fishery - Areas 6 to 10 - Central Coast - Update March 29, 2019
Central Coast Herring Bulletin #8 March 29, 2019: The third herring flight was carried out 09:00 hours - 14:00 hours March 28,2019 and covered both North and Southern flight paths. New spawn was observed within a portion of Stryker Bay at 52° 6.014'N and 128° 20.363'W, extending throughout the small bay. New spawn was observed in two locations immediately West of Waskesiu Passage, on the rocks located at 52° 9.241'N and 128° 26.120'W, as well as shoreline spawn extending from 52° 9.380'N and 128° 25.980'W for 1.15nm to 52° 9.790'N and 128° 26.271'W. New spawn was observed on the South shore of Watch Island extending Southward to and around Harmston Island, as well as to the SW shore and washed rocks to the West. Total spawn coverage is approximately 0.5nm. The spawn in Kitasu Bay continued to expand March 28, with new spawn observed on the North shore of Osment Inlet (52° 33.120'N and 128° 42.746'W) to Wingate Point (52° 35.018'N and 128° 44.828'W). The spawn covers approximately 5nm in distance, spawn covers the majority of the shoreline between these points. Spawn was also observed outside Kitasu Bay, in the small bay immediately South of Wilby Point at 52° 33.155'N and 128° 48.987'W.
