North Coast Herring Update Area 5 - Kitkatla March 21, 2019 (2100 hours): Spawn continues at Dries Inlet from Camp Creek to past Kitkatla Creek. Sounding continued along Porcher Peninsula and along the top side of Gurd. March 22, 2019 (1100 hrs): Sounding continued on the top end of Gurd this morning. Fish were flipping on surface along Porcher Peninsula down to Absalom Island but too close to the beach to quantify. Observations: Porcher Peninsula - March 20: 75 t. Porcher Peninsula - March 21: NFF Porcher Peninsula - March 22: 300 - 400 t plus FOB. Gravel Pit - March 21: NFF Gurd Inlet - March 22: scratches and FOB Gurd Island East - March 21: numerous scratches Gurd Island West - March 16: scratches Gurd Island West - March 17: NFF Gurd Island South - March 17: NFF Gurd Point - March 21: NFF Top of Gurd - March 22: small scratches Absalon Island - March 22: NFF Coquitlam Island - March 20: NFF Coquitlam Island - March 22: estimated 50 t.
