STRAIT OF GEORGIA

Effective 11:00 hours today, March 22, 2019, portions of Subareas 17-12, 17-18 
and 17-19 described below will close to the commercial roe herring gillnet 
fishery.  This area is being closed to protect First Nations Food, Social and 
Ceremonial harvest which are occurring in the area. 

Variation Order #2019-HG-GULF-01 is revoked.

Pursuant to Variation Order # 2019-HG-GULF-02, effective 11:00 hours today, 
March 22, 2019 and until further notice, portions of Areas 14 and 17 remain 
open to the Gulf licensed roe herring gill net fishery in the following Areas:

1. Subareas 14-1 to 14-13, 14-15, 17-10, 17-13, and 17-21.

2.	Subareas 17-12, 17-18 and 17-19 excluding that portion inside a line 
that begins at 49°18.100'N 124°10.215'W Vancouver Island, then to 49°18.261'N 
124°09.293'W Amelia Island, then to 49°18.400'N 124°07.917'W Yeo Islands, then 
to 49°17.100'N 124°05.600'W Ada Islands, then to 49°16.262'N 124°05.100'W Maude 
Island, then to 49°15.718'N 124°07.470'W, Imperieuse Rock Light Buoy, then to 
49°15.923'N 124°07.494'W Nanoose Harbour, then northerly following the 
shoreline to the beginning point.

The open area for this fishery includes the foreshore of Vancouver Island from 
Shelter Point to Horsewell Bluff Northerly of Nanaimo including Hornby and 
Denman Islands. The Comox Harbour, Nanoose Bay, and Nanaimo Harbour are closed 
to fishing and will remain closed for the duration of the fishery.
