Central Coast Herring Bulletin #2 March 19, 2019: The charter vessel Windward Isle is sounding in Fitz Hugh Sound and Nalau Pass areas as they continue toward Bella Bella and then to Spiller Channel to sound. CCGS Vector conducted shoreline inspections at Clifford Bay and Weeteeam Bay, no fish were found. There was very little sign of fish, bird, seal or sea lion activity in the areas surveyed. Four Humpback whales were noted outside of Laredo Sound. CCG Vector is moving to Kitasu Bay to conduct shoreline surveys in Kitasu Bay and area. Area 8 Patrol Pass - Illihie Inlet -- March 19, light skimmers Illihie Inlet ---------------- March 19, NFF Kwakume Point (South of) ----- March 19, 100 tons Kwakume Point ---------------- March 19, 450 tons on bottom Whidbey Point ---------------- March 19, 250 tons on bottom Area 8 Total 800 tons Area 10: A small spawn has been reported at Takush Harbour. The first scheduled herring spawn flight is scheduled for March 22, 2019.
