FN0139-SANITARY - Area 16 - Emergency Sanitary Closure 16.hh, for Bivalve Shellfish in a portion of Sechelt Area, Porpoise Bay has been revoked.
Effective February 22, 2019 Emergency Sanitary Closure 16.hh in PFMA Subarea 16- 5, has reverted to open status. The harvest of bivalve shellfish may now resume in the open areas. Please Note: Sanitary Closure 16.6 in Porpoise Bay, Sechelt Inlet will remain in place as it is an annual sanitary closure (http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/rec/includes/16.6.jpeg). As per Section B, 6.2 of the CSSP Manual, ECCC recommends that the emergency closure 16.hh be revoked, and now return to open status as the closure has been in place for a minimum of 21 days since flows ceased at the lift Station adjacent to Porpoise Bay in Sechelt Inlet. Note that this notice does not describe other sanitary closures which may be in effect, or Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP, red tide) and other marine biotoxin closures.
