Applications for Re-allocation of trap limits for the 2018/19 Crab by Trap Fishery for Area E - Sooke, and Area H only will be accepted through the National Online Licensing System (NOLS) from: Thursday, March 15, 2018 - Friday, March 23, 2018 inclusive. Applications submitted after March 23, 2018 will NOT be accepted. Prior to submitting a request for trap re-allocation, please ensure for both the vessel allocating the traps and the vessel receiving the re-allocated traps that: 1) Any Ministerial conditions placed on the licence eligibility are met. 2) Any conditions of the previous year's licence, such as submission and approval of logbooks, have been met. Shellfish Data Unit: Leslie Barton (250) 756-7306 Request for Re-Allocation of Trap Limits Crab by Trap Fishery 2018/19 Application forms have been sent by email to all Area E - Sooke Option, and Area H licence eligibility holders or may be requested by email from fishing- peche@dfo-mpo.gc.ca Requests to re-allocate traps must be made using the National Online Licensing System (NOLS) https://fishing-peche.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/. Application must be received through the NOLS account of the Licence Holder re-allocating Traps - No Exceptions. Please note that completed application form must be digitally attached by scanning and uploading an Adobe pdf, or photo extensions jpg, jpeg, bmp, tiff. Communal Commercial Licence (FR) eligibility holders that are re-allocating or receiving traps are required to designate the eligible vessel on the application form. The vessel must be registered as a Canadian commercial fishing vessel, and may not exceed the Maximum Vessel Length (MVL) of the licence eligibility. Once your request has been processed, you will see a 'DFO approved' response under the 'Request Status' of your request by logging into your NOLS account. Area H: When traps are re-allocated, 104 are relinquished and the receiving vessel may fish a maximum of 312 traps. Area E - Sooke Option - When traps are re-allocated, 175 are relinquished and the receiving vessel may fish a maximum of 525 traps. A maximum of 90 traps may be fished in Subarea 20-6 (Sooke Harbour). A maximum of 90 traps may be fished in Subarea 20-7 (Sooke Basin). Please refer to the conditions of licence and the Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) for trap allocation in subareas. Traps may be re-allocated to but not from owner/operator "grandfathered" restricted licence eligibilities. Trap allocations will revert back to the original licence eligibility at the end of the season. When the Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) has been approved the Crab by Trap 2018/19 licence renewal is scheduled to begin through the National Online Licensing System https://fishing-peche.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/. At that time, the licence renewal fee will be available for payment through your NOLS account. Notification will be sent via email to advise that a change has been made to the licence holders/vessels NOLS account at which time the renewal fee will be accessible. Vessel owners/licence eligibility holders will use NOLS to go online to view, pay for and print their commercial fishing licence, licence conditions, and/or receipts. To ensure that you receive email notifications, be sure to update your email address under your profile in the NOLS.
