Fishery Notice

The following new, revised or revoked sanitary shellfish closure boundaries are 
now in effect as a result of recommendations from the Pacific Region 
Interdepartmental Shellfish Committee: 

Closure 4.4	Metlakatla Bay and Venn Passage - the existing closure has 
been revoked.

The waters and intertidal foreshore inside a line drawn from Observation Point 
on the Tsimpsean Peninsula at 54°20.14' north latitude and 130°27.68' west 
longitude, thence southeasterly to a point of land on Digby Island at 54°19.72' 
north latitude and 130°26.54' west longitude, thence southwesterly to a point 
on land on Digby Island at 54°19.68' north latitude and 130°26.74' west 
longitude, thence westerly following the shoreline of Digby Island to a point 
of land at 54°19.60' north latitude and 130°26.87' west longitude, thence 
northwesterly to a red navigation buoy north of Shrub Island located at or near 
54°19.82' north latitude and 130°27.67' west longitude, thence southwesterly to 
a point in water at 54°19.27' north latitude and 130°28.56' west longitude, 
thence northwesterly to the green navigation buoy designated D83 at or near 54°
19.70' north latitude and 130°29.21' west longitude, thence northeasterly to a 
point in water at 54°19.77' north latitude and 130°28.52' west longitude, 
thence northeasterly to a point in water at 54°19.98' north latitude and 130°
28.44' west longitude, thence northwesterly to the shoal at 54°20.02' north 
latitude and 130°28.56' west longitude, thence northwesterly to a point in 
water at 54°20.44' north latitude and 130°28.75' west longitude, thence 
southeasterly to the point of commencement." [NAD83]

Closure 14.4	Base Flats to Fanny Bay - the existing closure has been 
revoked and replaced with closures 14.32 and 14.33

The waters and intertidal foreshore of Base Flat from a northern boundary 
starting at 49°31.22' north latitude and 124°49.84' west longitude, extending 
northeasterly to the low water mark at 49°31.41' north latitude and 124°49.54' 
west longitude, thence along the low water mark to a point at 49°31.15' north 
latitude and 124°49.34' west longitude thence southwest to a point 125 m from 
the high water mark at 49°30.68' north latitude and 124°49.87' west longitude, 
thence southeasterly along the foreshore to the seaward end of the Fanny Bay 
Wharf and from there parallel to the shore at a distance of 50 m to a point in 
water at 49°30.29' north latitude and 124°49.47' west longitude, thence 
northeast in a straight line encompassing a shellfish aquaculture tenure to a 
point in the water at 49°30.38' north latitude and 124°49.33' west longitude, 
thence easterly in a straight line following the shellfish aquaculture tenure 
boundary to a point in water at 49°30.36' north latitude and 124°49.16' west 
longitude, thence due south to the prominent point of land north of the Cowie 
Creek estuary at 49°30.17' north latitude and 124°49.17' west longitude, thence 
in a straight line due east to a point on land south of Ship Point at 49°30.15' 
north latitude and 124°48.52' west longitude.

Closure 14.32	A portion of Fanny Bay, Baynes Sound - a new closure is now 
in effect in the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore of Fanny Bay south of a line drawn from a 
point on land within the Fanny Bay Conservation Area at 49°30.08' north 
latitude and 124°48.52' west longitude, southerly of Ship Point, thence due 
west to a point on land at 49°30.08' north latitude and 124°49.18' west 
longitude. [NAD 83]

Closure 14.33	A portion of Fanny Bay, Baynes Sound - a new closure is now 
in effect in the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore of Fanny Bay lying inside a line drawn from 
a point on land, 125 m south of the Fanny Bay Public Wharf at 49°30.37' north 
latitude and 124°49.65' west longitude, thence seaward northeasterly to a point 
in water at 49°30.44' north latitude and 124°49.44' west longitude, thence 
northwesterly to a point on land at 49°39.94' north latitude and 124°49.99' 
west longitude thence southerly following the shoreline along the high water 
mark to the point of commencement. [NAD 83]

Closure 15.9	Sturt Bay and Vananda Cove - the existing closure has been 
amended.

The waters and intertidal foreshore of Sturt Bay and Van Anda Cove, northeast 
Texada Island, south of a line drawn from Hodgson Point at 49°45.79' north 
latitude and 124°33.78' west longitude, thence southeasterly to Van Anda Point 
at 49°45.61' north latitude and 124°33.03' west longitude plus a 300 m radius 
around the Texada school wastewater discharge pipe located at or near 49°45.73' 
north latitude and 124°33.46' west longitude." [NAD 83]

Closure 16.3	Gillies Bay, Texada Island - the existing closure has been 
amended.

The waters and intertidal foreshore of Gillies Bay, Texada Island, lying inside 
a line drawn from a point on land on Texada Island, southeast of the 
intersection of Dogwood Street and Sanderson Road at 49°40.35' north latitude 
and 124°29.44' west longitude, to a point on land on Texada Island south west 
of Gillies Bay Road at 49°40.39' north latitude and 124°28.41' west longitude."

Closure 16.50	Anderson Bay, Lasqueti Island - a new closure is now in 
effect in the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore of Anderson Bay, along the northeast end of 
Lasqueti Island, south of a line drawn from a point on land at 49°28.85' north 
latitude and 124°12.85' west longitude southeasterly to a point on land at 49°
28.77' north latitude and 124°12.64' west longitude."  [NAD83]

Closure 23.jj	Head of Effingham Inlet - a new closure is now in effect in 
the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore of Effingham Inlet northwest of a line 
drawn from a point on land on Vancouver Island at 49°05.38' north latitude and 
125°10.79' west longitude, thence southwesterly to a point on land on the 
opposite bank at 49°05.20' north latitude and 125°10.99' west longitude."

Closure 25.36	A portion of Eliza Island - a new closure is now in effect 
in the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore east of Eliza Island, inside a line drawn 
from a point of land on the northeastern tip of Eliza Island at 49°52.88' north 
latitude and 127°00.43' west longitude, thence southerly following along the 
eastern shoreline of Eliza Island to a point on land at 49°52.66' north 
latitude and 127°00.15' west longitude, thence easterly to a point on land on 
Vancouver Island at 49°52.69' north latitude and 126°59.96' west longitude, 
thence northwesterly following the shoreline to a point on land at 49°52.91' 
north latitude and 127°00.37' west longitude, thence westerly to the point of 
commencement. [NAD 83]

Closure 25.37	Northeastern side of Port Eliza Inlet - a new closure is now 
in effect in the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore on the northeastern side of Port Eliza 
Inlet, within a 175 m radius of a point on land located at 49°55.24' north 
latitude and 127°01.56' west longitude. This radius intersects the shoreline at 
49°55.29' north latitude and 127°01.69' west longitude and 49°55.16' north 
latitude and 127°01.49' west longitude. [NAD 83]

Closure 25.38	Northwestern side of Port Eliza Inlet - a new closure is now 
in effect in the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore on the northwestern side of Port Eliza 
Inlet, within a 260 m radius of a point on land at the mouth of an unnamed 
creek located at 49°54.73' north latitude and 127°02.12' west longitude. This 
radius intersects the shoreline at 49°54.87' north latitude and 127°02.18' west 
longitude and 49°54.59' north latitude and 127°02.07' west longitude. [NAD 83]

Closure 25.39	Northwestern side of Esperanza Inlet - a new closure is now 
in effect in the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore on the northwestern side of Esperanza 
Inlet, within a 290 m radius of a point on land located at 49°51.52' north 
latitude and 126°57.19' west longitude. This radius intersects the shoreline at 
49°51.59' north latitude and 126°56.97' west longitude and 49°51.39' north 
latitude and 127°67.35' west longitude. [NAD 83]

Closure 25.40	Unnamed bay, Southwestern side of Espinosa Inlet - a new 
closure is now in effect in the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore of an unnamed bay on the southwestern side 
of Espinosa Inlet, inside a line drawn from a point on land located at 49°
54.18' north latitude and 126°56.40' west longitude, thence southeasterly to a 
point on land at 49°53.92' north latitude and 126°56.26' west longitude.  [NAD 
83]

Closure 25.41	Unnamed Bay, Southwest shore of Hecate Channel - a new 
closure is now in effect in the following area:

The intertidal foreshore of the estuary of a small bay on the southwest shore 
of Hecate Channel, just west of McBride Bay, inside a line drawn from a point 
on land located at 49°51.49' north latitude and 126°45.19' west longitude, 
thence following the intertidal shoreline southeasterly to a point on land at 
49°51.39' north latitude and 126°45.08' west longitude. [NAD 83]

Closure 25.42	Unnamed Bay, west side of Head Bay - a new closure is now in 
effect in the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore of the small bay at the west side of Head 
Bay, from a point on land at 49°47.47' north latitude and 126°29.45' west 
longitude, thence southeasterly to a point on land at 49°47.27' north latitude 
and 126°29.33' west longitude." [NAD 83]

Closure 25.43	Head of Tahsis Inlet - a new closure is now in effect in the 
following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore at the head of Tahsis Inlet, inside a line 
drawn from a point of land at 49°54.60' north latitude and 126°38.96' west 
longitude thence southwesterly to a point of land at 49°54.32' north latitude 
and 126°39.79' west longitude". [NAD 83]

Closure 26.5	Head of Malksope Inlet - the existing closure has been 
amended.

The waters and intertidal foreshore of the eastern end of Malksope Inlet, 
southeast of a line drawn from a point on land at 50°07.86' north latitude and 
127°25.27' west longitude, thence southwesterly to a point of land at 50°07.48' 
north latitude and 127°27.03' west longitude. [NAD 83]

January 1 to December 31

Closure 26.15	Clanninick Cove - the existing closure has been revoked.

The waters and intertidal foreshore of Clanninick Cove in a portion of Subarea 
26-6 north of a line drawn from the point of land at the western entrance to 
Clanninick Cove at 50°02.18' north latitude and 127°25.18' west longitude, 
thence southerly to the northernmost point of McLean Island at 50°02.13' north 
latitude and 127°25.16' west longitude, thence following the eastern shoreline 
of McLean Island southerly to its easternmost point of land at 50°01.75' north 
latitude and 127°24.57' west longitude, thence easterly to the opposite shore 
(the western headland of Walters Cove at 50°01.70' north latitude and 127°
23.60' west longitude). [NAD 83]

effect, or Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP, red tide), Domoic Acid Poisoning 
and Diarrheic Shellfish Poisoning and other marine biotoxin closures.  Detailed
