UPDATE: Maps of Fishery Management Areas and Subareas can be found at: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/contamination/biotox/index-eng.htm Area 23 Effective immediately the harvest prohibition for manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters and mussels is lifted in Subarea 23-6 except that portion northeast of a line drawn from a point of land at 48°58.47' north latitude and 125°04.92' west longitude to a point of land at 48°58.61' north latitude and 125°05.05' west longitude, known as Useless Inlet. The most recent marine biotoxin results were acceptable. Please see the summary table for the status of all subareas in Area 23. SUMMARY: The following information in this fishery notice reflects Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP, red tide), Domoic Acid Poisoning (also known as Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning (ASP)), Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning (DSP) and other marine toxin closures as of November 10, 2017, for bivalve shellfish (oysters, clams, scallops, mussels, and geoduck). Note that this fishery notice does not describe sewage contamination closures.
