FN1112-SANITARY - Emergency Sanitary Closure in West Howe Sound, Subareas 28-1 and 28-3
The Pacific Region Interdepartmental Shellfish Committee recommends an emergency shellfish harvesting closure be put into effect immediately as a result of an unscheduled release of raw sewage during sewage pump-out procedures from the Queen of Surrey to shore facilities at the BC Ferry terminal at Langdale. The area is described as: Emergency Closure 28.aa - West Howe Sound, Subareas 28-1 and 28-3: The waters and intertidal foreshore within the boundaries of DFO Subareas 28-1 and 28-3, as described in the Pacific Fishery Management Area Regulations, 2007. [NAD83] Detailed bivalve shellfish closure information and maps are available at our website: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/contamination/biotox/index-eng.html and at local DFO offices. For more information contact a local DFO office, Elysha Gordon at 250-756-7192
