FN0868-COMMERCIAL - Invertebrates: Shrimp Trawl - Bulletins Following Surveys for Area 16 (SMA 16) and Areas 13 and 15 (SMA GSTE) Results in Areas Staying Closed
Survey results and Shrimp Survey Bulletins 17-03 and 17-04 are available for Shrimp Management Area (SMA) 16 (PFMA Area 16) and SMA GSTE (PFMA Areas 13 and 15). Copies of the bulletins are available on request from Dan Clark 250-756- 7327 or Dan.Clark@dfo-mpo.gc.ca. The estimated total biomasses for pink and sidestripe shrimp in SMA 16 are in the Critical Zone so the shrimp trawl fishery in Area 16 will remain closed. The estimated total biomasses for pink and sidestripe shrimp in SMA GSTE are in the Critical Zone so the shrimp trawl fishery in Areas 13 and 15 will remain closed. An assessment on stock status indicating that both pink and sidestripe shrimp abundance are above the LRP and out of the Critical Zone will be required prior to any future fishing opportunity in these areas.
